Forest department to mark Seva Parv with 'Swachh Utsav'
LUCKNOW, Sept. 15 -- The Uttar Pradesh Forest Department will observe Seva Parv from September 17 to October 2 as a 'Swachh Utsav.'
Principal chief conservator of Forests and head of forest force Sunil Chaudhary has directed officials to ensure effective execution. The fortnight-long campaign will feature cleanliness drives, anti-plastic initiatives, weed removal in bird sanctuaries, and awareness programmes on environmental protection, rainwater harvesting, and water conservation, a government statement said on Sunday.
To oversee the campaign, Sushant Sharma, secretary of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, has been appointed nodal officer, while Ramkumar, additional PCCF (Projects), will serve as departmental nodal officer.
On September 25, the birth anniversary of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya, plantation drives will be held across districts, with saplings provided to citizens, institutions, and schools. A one-hour mega event will see participation from officials, students, NGOs, civic groups, panchayat members, and volunteers such as Tiger Mitras, Sarus Mitras, and Wetland Mitras.
Mission director of Plantation Mega Campaign-2025, Deepak Kumar, said 15 lakh saplings will be planted during Seva Parv. At least 100 saplings will be planted in each of the 34 Nagar Vans. Sites for plantation drives will be identified in consultation with District Magistrates and other departments, with priority given to urban areas, river catchments, and pond banks.
Mayors, MPs, MLAs, and other public representatives will also attend the events. The department has called for innovations in every district, along with street plays and cultural programmes to inspire public participation....
