For PM's visit, Lko police deploy rooftop surveillance along route
LUCKNOW, Dec. 24 -- With Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to visit the state capital on December 25 to inaugurate the Rashtra Prerna Asthal at Basant Vihar Yojana, Lucknow police have put in place an elaborate, multi-tier security arrangement, turning several high-rise buildings along the PM's route into temporary watchtowers.
Senior police officials said that personnel equipped with high-powered binoculars will be deployed on the terraces and top floors of multi-storey residential and commercial buildings from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport up to Prerna Asthal, particularly along the 1090 Crossing stretch. The elevated positions will allow cops to keep a close vigil over a radius of one to two kilometres.
"Police teams will be stationed on high-rise apartments and vantage points with binoculars to monitor any suspicious movement from a distance," said deputy commissioner of police (crime/traffic) Kamlesh Dixit to HT. "They will also be equipped with specialised weapons that can be used, if required, from long range," he added.
Officials said the rooftop deployment is part of a broader security strategy that includes route sanitisation, anti-sabotage checks, drone surveillance, intensive frisking at key points and the deployment of quick response teams.
