LUCKNOW, Sept. 13 -- An FIR was lodged on Friday against retired IPS officer Amitabh Thakur and his wife Nutan Thakur in connection with the purchase of an industrial plot of land in 1999. The FIR lodged at the Talkatora police station in Lucknow accused Nutan Thakur of acquiring the industrial plot in Deoria's industrial area under a fake name and address, later selling it in her real name to make profits. The FIR was registered under Indian Penal Code Sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, 34 and 120B. In the FIR, Amitabh Thakur has been accused of conspiracy under Section 120B of the Indian Penal Code. The complainant Sanjay Sharma demanded a CBI or SIT probe, citing the seriousness of the alleged wrongdoing. The complaint stated that Nutan Thakur applied for plot number B-2 under the name "Nutan Devi, wife of Abhijat Thakur, Village Khaira, District Sitamarhi, Bihar." Documents were allegedly prepared using this false identity. The plot was later transferred and sold in her actual name, the complainant claimed. At the time of the alleged incident in 1999, Amitabh Thakur was serving as the superintendent of police, Deoria. The complaint accused him of misusing his position by failing to file an FIR despite knowing about the irregularities, using his influence to pressure officials to allot the plot, facilitating the process that allowed the transition from a fake identity to a genuine sale, according to the FIR. Reacting to the FIR, Amitabh and Nutan Thakur issued a video statement to the media, asserting that the case registered against them is completely politically motivated and appears to be a retaliatory measure due to "our consistent actions against the wrongdoings of high-ranking officials in the government." "A civil case that is quite old has been converted into a criminal case and after almost 25 years, an FIR has been forcibly registered. We are confident that we will prove our innocence with facts soon," the statement added....
