Food licences, registrations surge by over 200%: U.P. govt
Lucknow, May 2 -- Food licences and registrations in the state have surged by over 200% in recent years, with over 1.16 lakh (1,16,316) active licences and 7.43 lakh (7,43,767) registrations now in place. This reflects both the growth of the food sector and the administration's commitment to safety and efficiency," a state government statement said.
In comparison to 2016-17, registrations for food units with turnover up to Rs 12 lakh have jumped by 271%-from 1,99,711 to 7,43,767. Likewise, licenses for businesses with turnover between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 30 crore have increased from 36,984 to 1,16,316 during the same period.
According to the statement, the UP government has simplified the licensing and registration process to facilitate this growth.
The food safety and drug administration department now enables entrepreneurs to complete applications online through the Food Safety Connection App, with most applications being processed within 24 hours....
