Dehradun, Nov. 23 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday held an informal interaction with Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers at his residence, calling on them to adopt a fast, transparent, and people-centric work style. The meeting was convened in the backdrop of the ongoing Administrative Officers' Conference (AOC) and attended by chief secretary Anand Bardhan along with other top officials. Dhami said Uttarakhand has faced many challenges in its 25-year journey, and the hard work, dedication, and foresight of the state's administrative machinery have contributed significantly to these achievements. He said, "You have all demonstrated excellent leadership and sensitive administration even in difficult circumstances. I heartily congratulate you all for this. This is not the time to stop, but to move forward." The chief minister said that this is the time to work with greater speed, perseverance, and resolve. Referring to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's remarks, "This decade is the decade of Uttarakhand," he said that it is the responsibility of the Uttarakhand administration to realise this resolution. He said the coming five years will be decisive for Uttarakhand, and that the state must be taken to a point where every citizen feels Uttarakhand is undergoing decisive and positive change. Dhami said that the administration must work with speed and transparency. "Every plan and decision must be goal-driven and people-centric. The system should be such that file disposal is timely. The impact of plans should be immediately visible at the ground level. Accountability should be clear in every process. This is not just a job, it is a responsibility to serve the society," he said. Dhami said that they would not have chosen this service for money, position, or security, but with the desire to do something for the nation and society. He said, "Your decisions directly affect millions of people. Therefore, sensitivity, foresight, and factual thinking are extremely important." The chief minister said that sometimes public complaints tarnish the administration's image. "Red tape, complaints not being heard, and unnecessary file delays negatively impact the system. Officials must prioritize public trust," he said. Chief minister Dhami said that in administrative history, there have been many officers like Surya Pratap Singh, TN Seshan, and Nripendra Mishra who have left a lasting mark on society through their honesty, determination, and public service. "The prestige of a position lasts only for your tenure, but the respect for your work lasts a lifetime," he said. Dhami said that in today's "New India," apathy towards work will not be tolerated. He directed officials to ensure that no task is delayed unnecessarily and that decisions are taken swiftly and judiciously. Dhami stressed that the benefits of government schemes must reach all eligible beneficiaries with complete transparency and within the stipulated time. He also instructed officers to conduct monthly reviews, maintain continuous monitoring, and carry out regular site inspections in their respective areas. The chief minister said the state government is committed to positioning Uttarakhand among the leading states in the country. He said that the dedication, hard work, and determination of IAS officers will continue to play a crucial role in achieving this goal. At the event, chief secretary Anand Bardhan also shared experiences from the ongoing Administrative Officers' Conference (AOC)....
