LUCKNOW, Nov. 22 -- After the arrest of Sahara Group's former director OP Srivastava by Enforcement Directorate in Kolkata on Thursday, searches, document examinations, and questioning of Sahara-linked executives in Lucknow are expected in the coming days as the spotlight is set to shift to the group's financial and operational network in the state capital, people aware of the matter said. Srivastava was taken into custody by the ED's Kolkata unit on Thursday after questioning at the CGO Complex in the West Bengal capital during which he allegedly tried to mislead investigators and withheld crucial information about suspected shell-company transactions linked to an alleged Rs.1.79 lakh crore investor fraud. The ED Lucknow officials confirmed that the probe is turning toward the state capital, home to some of Sahara's largest establishments. Documents were seized in earlier raids on properties connected to Sahara's Lucknow operations. The officials said the earlier findings will be matched with fresh disclosures expected from Srivastava's interrogation. Another ED official said Srivastava's name emerged prominently in the investigation after ED seized 707 acres of Sahara-owned land, some of it believed to be tied to holdings processed or controlled from Lucknow.
