Five-year-old vanishes from mother's lap; case reaches GRP after a month
LUCKNOW, March 31 -- A five-year-old boy allegedly vanished from his sleeping mother's lap at Charbagh railway station, but police only learnt of the disappearance over a month later, raising questions about the investigation's delayed start.
The child went missing on February 22 when his mother arrived at the station from Amethi with her three sons following a domestic dispute. She had spent the night on platform 6. Come morning, her youngest was gone.
The boy's father, a resident of Arjunnagar village in Amethi, told police his wife had left home with all three children after a quarrel. She returned on February 25 with only two sons. When confronted, she claimed the child had disappeared while she slept at the station.
Despite searching immediately after, the child could not be found.
A missing complaint was filed in Amethi initially, but was reported to government railway police (GRP) at Charbagh only on March 30, nearly five weeks later.
"Officials said the delay in approaching GRP is also under scrutiny," police said. Investigators are now examining why the family waited so long to alert the authorities.
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the station to piece together what happened.htc...
