Five S-Is shunted for beating cook in police station
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 5 -- Five sub-inspectors, including a woman sub-inspector, have been transferred to other police stations in connection with the assault on a cook at the Puramufti police station mess in Prayagraj.
The five S-Is are accused of brutally beating cook Prabhunarain Shukla late on September 28 night. The DCP had assigned the investigation to ADCP Nagar.
As the complaint reached the office of DCP (city), the accused female inspector Komal was transferred to Georgetown police station, SI Vishal Vishwakarma to Kotwali, SI Nishant Jatav to Dhoomanganj police station, SI Varunkant Pratap Singh to Phulpur police station and SI Vivek Kumar Singh to Phaphamau police station. Notices have also been issued to the accused policemen to give explanation in the case.
According to police sources, departmental action will also be taken against the guilty policemen after the investigation report is submitted.
As per reports, Prabhunarain Shukla, a resident of Kaju village in Kaushambi district, worked as a cook on contract in the Puramufti police station mess. It is alleged that at around 11:30 pm on September 28, Prabhunarain was sleeping in his room on the police station premises.
Five sub-inspectors woke him up and began beating him. He was chased and beaten inside the police station. Prabhunarain alleged that he had protested the issuing of a challan against his nephew's bike. He complained about the incident to the police station in-charge also. Angered by this, the policemen assaulted him....
