KANPUR, May 8 -- Five members of a family were killed and three others seriously injured after their car jumped the central divider and collided head-on with a truck on the national highway in the Eit police station area in Jalaun on Wednesday morning. The family was travelling from Motipur in Bahraich to Bengaluru when the accident occurred between Somai and Girthan villages. Police said the vehicle, reportedly at high speed, veered into the opposite lane, possibly after the driver dozed off, and hit an oncoming truck. The deceased have been identified as Brijesh (42), his wife Preeti (35), relative Sangeeta (33), their three-month-old daughter, and son Ashutosh (13). The injured - Ankit, Manvi, and Manda - were taken to a nearby hospital. The bodies were sent for post-mortem to the district hospital....
