Five killed as Bolero rams parked tanker, mobike crashes into wreckage
LUCKNOW, April 6 -- Five people were killed and several others injured after a speeding Bolero rammed into a tanker parked along the highway, following which a motorcycle coming from behind crashed into the mangled vehicle in Bareilly on Sunday afternoon, police said.
The accident occurred around 3 pm near Pardhauli village under the CB Ganj police station area on National Highway 530.
Police said the impact was so severe that the front half of the Bolero was completely crushed and its roof was blown off. Three bodies had to be extricated after cutting open the damaged vehicle. Two motorcycle riders died on the spot.
One person sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the district hospital for treatment.
According to police, the tanker had been standing by the roadside since Saturday after it was involved in a collision with a state transport bus at the same location. On Sunday, the Bolero, which was travelling from Faridpur in Bareilly towards Rampur, crashed into the rear of the parked tanker.
A motorcycle coming from behind then rammed into the wrecked Bolero, further worsening the accident.
Police identified the deceased Bolero occupants as Manmohan Singh, a resident of Tanda-Sikandarpur in Bareilly, Sikandar, son of Durgesh Kumar and a resident of Kalyanpur Chak Tirth in Pilibhit, and one unidentified person.
The Bolero was being driven by Prince, who was among the injured. Two children travelling in the vehicle also sustained injuries, police said.
The two motorcycle riders were identified as Sahabzad Khan (45) and Mumtaz Khan, both residents of Ata Kayasthan in Bareilly.
Police said the two men were reportedly on their way to a nearby pond for fishing when the accident took place.
A crane was later deployed to remove the damaged tanker and clear the route....
