KANPUR, Sept. 23 -- Following violence during a religious procession in Shuklaganj on Sunday, Unnao police arrested five people on Monday and carried out flag marches in sensitive areas to maintain law and order. Officials said seven to eight individuals, including police personnel, were injured in stone-pelting and subsequent lathicharge. Additional SP Akhilesh Kumar confirmed the procession was taken out without permission. The unrest began when a group of youths took out a procession.
