Five children injured as school bus overturns in Pratapgarh
Prayagraj, Aug. 13 -- A school bus carrying nearly 50 students overturned on Tuesday afternoon near the Lehndari Bridge on the Pratapgarh-Kaushambi border, under the Nawabganj police station area. The accident happened while the bus was trying to overtake a truck. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle during the attempt, causing it to flip on the roadside.
Locals nearby heard the children crying for help and rushed to the scene. They helped rescue the children from the overturned vehicle. Most of the students suffered only minor injuries and were picked up by their parents soon after. However, five children were seriously injured and were taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Kalakankar for medical treatment.
The bus belonged to a private school located on the Prayagraj-Lucknow Highway. The school is run by a former Nagar Panchayat chairman and has students from Manikpur and nearby villages in Kaushambi district, including Lehndari and Kunda. Circle officer of Kunda, Amarnath Gupta, said that the police worked with the help of locals to rescue all the children safely....
