Five booked for assaulting man 2 weeks after incident
LUCKNOW, Dec. 8 -- Around two weeks after a man was allegedly assaulted by a group of people in Takrohi area here after his family refused to withdraw a molestation case lodged by his wife earlier this year, an FIR in the November 24 incident was finally filed against five accused at Indira Nagar police station on Saturday (December 6) after the intervention of senior police officials.
The case was registered against three named-Rinku Rajput, Vishram Rajput and Sangeet Rajput-of Takrohi area and two unidentified accused on the complaint of the victim's brother, police said. According to police, the victim, identified as Akash Gupta, 35, is undergoing treatment at the KGMU Trauma Centre for multiple serious injuries, including a fractured finger and deep head wounds.
Akash's family alleged that despite repeated complaints, local police did not register their case, forcing them to write to the higher authorities. However, no arrests have been made so far. According to the complainant, ever since Akash's wife lodged the molestation case, the accused were exerting pressure on her to withdraw the same and also allegedly threatened the victim's family.
On November 24, Akash was on his way to Takrohi when he was intercepted at Dasrath Lodhi Chauraha by accused Rinku Rajput, Sangeet Rajput, Vishram Rajput and two others.
The group allegedly attacked him with iron rods, leaving him bleeding on the road. The attackers also allegedly snatched his mobile phone, gold chain and Rs.2,000 in cash. Police officials said the matter was under investigation and action will be taken against those found guilty....
