Agra, April 29 -- Five people had been arrested in connection with the attack on Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman's convoy when it was en route to Bulandshahr on Sunday, police said. Also, the in-charge of a police outpost and a beat constable were suspended for negligence hours after the incident. Aligarh superintendent of police (City) Mrigank Shekhar Pathak said the five men were arrested Sunday evening after a case against the incident was registered at Ghabhana police station of Aligarh. They, however, were later released after being bound. "After the in-charge of Ghabhana outpost, Alok Sharma, a beat constable too has been suspended," the SP said, adding a case was registered against 15 unidentified accused after which the arrests were made. The Rajya Sabha MP's convoy was allegedly targeted by Karni Sena men in Aligarh. Tyres were tossed on the cars in the fleet when it was crossing Ghabhana area. The attack came a month after Suman's remarks on Rana Sanga, a medieval period Rajput ruler, sparked outrage. Following the incident, the MP said there was "jungle raj" in Uttar Pradesh. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also condemned the attack. Meanwhile, Raghuraj Singh, a minister in the UP cabinet, justified the attack on the convoy. Singh alleged that Suman was in the habit of holding Mughal invaders in high regard but insulting warriors like Rana Sanga who fought for the nation's pride....
