First public marriage hall nears completion
PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 10 -- The state government has initiated the construction of public marriage venues under the name "Kalyan Mandapam," with the aim of making wedding ceremonies more accessible and affordable for all, officials said.
The officials shared that the hall will be a major relief to economically weaker sections and middle-class families burdened by the rising costs of private marriage halls.
The first such public marriage hall in Prayagraj district is now nearing completion, they shared.
Constructed under the supervision of the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation, the facility is being built by Construction and Design Services (CNDS).
According to CNDS Project Manager Rohit Kumar Rana, the Kalyan Mandapam located in the Phaphamau area is ready for use, and bookings will begin from the upcoming wedding season.
Named 'Mangalam', the public marriage hall is equipped with all modern amenities. Built over an area of 10,661 square meters at a cost of Rs.4.7 crore, the facility includes a spacious hall, guest rooms, individual rooms, and ample parking space. The hall has a seating capacity of around 250 guests, making it ideal for mid-sized wedding ceremonies, he added.
The three-storey structure is designed to provide all the essential and modern facilities typically available in private marriage halls, ensuring a dignified, well-managed venue at a fraction of the commercial rates.
Officials said this initiative reflects the state's commitment to social welfare and inclusive development, ensuring that significant life events like weddings do not become a financial burden for common citizens....
