LUCKNOW, May 13 -- In view of massive crowd expected during the upcoming Bada Mangal festival, the Lucknow Police have issued a comprehensive security and traffic diversion plan. The festival will be celebrated on May 13, 20, and 27, and June 3, and June 10, drawing large gatherings at prominent Hanuman temples across the city, particularly the New and Old Hanuman Temples in Aliganj and Hanuman Setu Temple. The Bada Mangal festival, unique to Lucknow and celebrated every Tuesday in the month of Jyeshtha, sees thousands of devotees offering prayers and participating in religious events, making it one of the city's most vibrant traditions. "Traffic restrictions will be imposed starting midnight on May 12, with several major routes in the city either partially or fully diverted. The decision comes in light of the heavy footfall and the traditional fair (mela) that accompanies the religious celebrations," stated a Lucknow police press note. Heavy vehicles and city buses from Sitapur Road will not be allowed towards IT Chauraha and Kapurthala. They will be redirected via Madiaon, Shahmeena, and Sikandarbagh. Vehicles from Kaiserbagh and Hazratganj heading towards IT Chauraha and Kapurthala must take alternate routes through Daliganj, Shahmeena, and Nishatganj. Kursi Road traffic will be diverted from Vishnupuri and Hewitt Polytechnic areas, rerouted via Wireless, Badshahnagar, and Nishatganj. City buses from IT Chauraha to Aliganj will not be permitted via Kapurthala and must take Ayodhya Road. Traffic near Sahara Tower, Nirala Nagar, Chhani Lal Chauraha, and Sai Mandir Tiraha will face several diversions to ease congestion around the Kapurthala crossing. Access to Hanuman Setu Temple and Hanumant Dham Temple will be limited from multiple directions including Clarks Awadh, Motimahal, PNT, and Sikandarbagh areas. "Despite the restrictions, ambulances, fire services, school buses, and other emergency vehicles will be allowed through restricted areas if no alternative route is available. The public can seek assistance at 9454405155," stated the press release....
