Firozabad court sentences bank cashier to life, aides to 10-yr jail
AGRA, Dec. 21 -- A court in Firozabad has sentenced a bank cashier to life imprisonment and his associates to 10 years in jail for embezzling crores of rupees from a bank. The case was registered at Jasrana police station in Firozabad in March 2025. Sarvesh Kumar Pandey, Additional Sessions Judge of Court No. 02 in Agra, delivered the judgment on Friday. The case, registered at Jasrana police station in Firozabad, was heard under sections 316(5), 318(4), 338, 336(3), 340(2), and 11(2)(B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The cashier, identified as Jaiprakash, was sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted under section 316(5) of the BNS for criminal breach of trust by a public servant and Section 112(2)(ii) for organised crime. The court also sentenced five others-Praveen Kumar, Kunwar Pal, Aakash Mishra, Veer Bahadur, and Sukhdev-to 10 years' imprisonment for their involvement in the case. On March 19, 2025, a bank customer, Amit Gupta, along with others, lodged a complaint about the embezzlement of Rs 1,85,97,900 from various customer accounts at the Jasrana branch.
