Fire extinguisher malfunction halts Magadh Express near Chunar
VARANASI, Dec. 14 -- Passengers of the Islampur-bound Magadh Express (train number 20802) faced a brief scare on Saturday after a fire extinguisher malfunctioned inside a general coach near Chunar Junction, Mirzapur district, prompting the emergency chain to be pulled and the train to be halted.
The incident occurred around 11 am when the train was passing near Jhingura Pakar Pahara station. Following the incident, passengers alerted railway authorities through the helpline number 139. After a preliminary check, the driver restarted the train, which later stopped at Chunar Junction.
At Chunar, personnel from the Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police, along with teams from the commercial department and medical services, reached the spot. The train then proceeded to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Junction and arrived at platform number one at 12:07 pm.
A 36-year-old passenger from Patna was examined by a doctor from the Loco Divisional Hospital after his blood pressure was found to be high. He was deboarded and admitted to the hospital for treatment. The train departed Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Junction at 12:48 pm.
RPF inspector Pradeep Kumar Rawat said the incident was caused by a malfunction in a fire extinguisher inside the Magadh Express. He added that one passenger was taken to the hospital for treatment and the situation was brought under control....
