VARANASI, Oct. 18 -- A Vigilance team arrested a constable, deployed as clerk at the chief fire officer's office Chandauli, for taking bribe on Friday. The clerk was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10K from the victim for giving a no objection certificate (NOC). According to reports, Neeraj Yadav, a resident of Ghorawal area, wanted to set up a clinic at a building in Shahabganj town of district Chandauli. He applied for a no objection certificate from the Fire Department in PDDU, Nagar. He alleged that a clerk demanded money for the NOC. Thereafter, Neeraj filed a complaint with the Vigilance department, Varanasi. Based on the complaint, Vigilance team investigated the matter and raided the office on Friday afternoon and caught the clerk Rajkamal red-handed while accepting bribe from the applicant.The clerk attempted to escape during the arrest, but the vigilance team apprehended him.
