PRAYAGRAJ, June 5 -- A fire broke out in an Axis Bank ATM booth in the Allenganj area of Prayagraj on Wednesday afternoon. Officials said the fire was caused by a short circuit. Some people had come to withdraw money from the ATM when they noticed smoke filling the booth. They quickly left the area and raised an alarm. Former councillor Nitin Yadav and other local residents rushed to the spot. They tried to put out the fire using buckets of water. The fire brigade was informed and arrived a short time later. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control before it could spread further. Chief fire officer (CFO) of Prayagraj, R K Pandey, said that the fire started due to a short circuit. He confirmed that no one was injured in the incident. He also said that the money kept in the ATM was safe, thanks to the quick response from locals and firefighters.
