Fire breaks out at cancer hospital
LUCKNOW, May 25 -- A fire broke out in a room housing batteries for uninterrupted power supply (UPS) system in the radiation oncology building at Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute and Hospital (KSSSCIH) on Saturday, said a hospital official, adding none was hurt in the incident.
KSSSCIH director Dr MLB Bhatt said the authorities were investigating the cause of the fire, while hospital operations continued without interruption. Fortunately, the fire did not spread to any of the hospital wards or patient areas. "The fire broke in the UPS battery room, but it was confined to that limited area," the hospital official confirmed.
"Thanks to quick action by staff and fire brigade, the blaze was extinguished without any injuries or damage to critical hospital infrastructure," the hospital official added.
The UPS room, located slightly away from the main building, helped in containing the fire and minimizing the risk to patients and staff.
Insiders said the smoke was coming from the building which triggered an immediate response. Hospital personnel acted swiftly and collaborated with the fire brigade to bring the situation under control before it could escalate....
