Fire at IMS-BHU: Lab blaze causes panic, no casualties reported
VARANASI, Oct. 5 -- A fire broke out in the old gastroenterology and endocrinology lab in the old building of Sir Sunderlal Hospital, IMS-BHU, on Saturday, causing panic among the people.
Most of the plastic items kept in the store were reduced to ashes in the fire. No injuries were reported.
Upon receiving the information, the hospital administration immediately reached the spot and tried to control the fire using the hospital's installed fire fighting system. In the presence of the medical superintendent, Prof KK Gupta, many items were safely removed, according to BHU officials. Meanwhile, the fire brigade arrived and extinguished the fire.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. The medical superintendent has formed a committee to investigate the cause. Chief fire officer, Varanasi, Anand Singh Rajpoot, stated that the fire brigade arrived at the Indo Lab at approximately 8:20 am on Saturday and it took about an hour to extinguish the flames.
