FIR registered against womandriver in car crash killing one
LUCKNOW, June 5 -- A day after a woman recklessly driving a car fatally allegedly knocked down a 45-year-old contractual employee of King George's Medical University (KGMU) and injured a teenage boy and an elderly woman in the Khadra area, police have registered a case against the accused, authorities said on Wednesday.
The accused, Tanu Gupta, a 35-year-old real estate businesswoman from Saadatganj, has been booked under sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence), 281 (reckless driving), and 125(a) (endangering human life), based on a complaint filed by the deceased's brother, Devendra Pandey, they added.
The incident occurred near Shia PG College around noon on Tuesday when Gupta, who was driving the car with her mother Rajni Gupta sitting beside her, reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The car hit bicycle-borne Ravindra Pandey (45), 16-year-old Daksh Sonkar from Kadam Rasoolpur, and Ramapati, an elderly woman from Baddopur in Barabanki before crashing into roadside shops and an electric pole.
Mahanagar ACP Neha Tripathi said Gupta was granted bail as the charges invoked did not warrant immediate arrest. "She has a valid driving licence and has been driving since 2017. She appeared shocked and said she could not understand what went wrong," said Tripathi.
A technical inspection of the vehicle has been ordered, and a detailed probe is underway, police said....
