FIR filed against 30 for obstructing Dal Mandi lane widening work
VARANASI, Nov. 20 -- An FIR has been lodged against 30 people, including two identified individuals, for allegedly obstructing government work during the Dal Mandi lane widening project, police said.
According to officials, the Varanasi Development Authority had issued a notice in 1984 for demolition action against the house, asking the owner to present ownership documents before the VDA authorities. Despite that neither the map nor the land ownership certificate was presented by the house owners.
Thereafter, the then zonal officer had passed an order on July 4, 1984, to demolish the illegal construction.
On Tuesday, when the VDA team, along with the district administration, revenue department, public works department, reached Dal Mandi to demolish the illegal construction, a group of people, including Imran alias Bablu, and other men and women allegedly protested against the team, due to which work could not be done.
On Wednesday, Varanasi Development Authority's zonal officer Saurabh Dev Prajapati filed a complaint in this regard.
Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered against two named, including one Imran, and 30 unidentified men and women for creating a hurdle in the government work, said the police officer.
Confirming it, assistant commissioner of police, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Atul Anjan Tripathi said, "Further investigation is on."...
