FIR against jailed RJD MLA Ritlal
PATNA, June 24 -- More than a month after gangster-turned-politician and RJD MLA Ritlal Yadav was shifted from Patna's Beur Model Jail to Bhagalpur Central Jail, he has again been accused of orchestrating criminal activities from behind bars.
Khagaul police on Sunday lodged a fresh case against the RJD MLA and four of his associates in connection with extortion threats to a builder and the demolition of an under-construction boundary wall, allegedly at his behest.
Following the FIR, City SP (Patna West) Bhanu Pratap Singh led police raids at Kothwan in Khagaul - the native village of Ritlal - and at the residences of his associates Suraj Yadav, Munna Yadav alias Kumar Prakash, Bhola alias Vikas, and Binod Yadav.
The builder, who is carrying out construction work in Kothwan, reportedly received extortion and threat calls from Ritlal's associates.
According to police, the builder had earlier lodged an FIR against Ritlal and his aides, alleging that the MLA demanded Rs.50 lakh, threatening to disrupt construction and have the boundary wall razed if the payment was not made. "The matter is under investigation," said the City SP, adding that further action would be taken against those involved as per court orders.
Ritlal, known for his criminal influence in parts of Patna, had surrendered before the Danapur court on April 17 along with his associate Shrawan Yadav, his brother Pinku Yadav, and brother-in-law Shailendra alias Chiku Yadav in an earlier extortion case involving the same builder. His presence in Beur Jail had reportedly posed security concerns, prompting authorities to shift him to Bhagalpur Central Jail in an attempt to curb his operations....
