LUCKNOW, April 13 -- The Uttar Pradesh State Election Commission (UP SEC) has again extended the deadline for the final publication of the voter list for the three-tier panchayat elections from earlier April 15 to April 22. "The final publication of electoral rolls for public will now be done on April 22," according to Raj Pratap Singh, state election commissioner, Uttar Pradesh, in a notification (amendment) issued April 10. This is the fourth time the final publication date for the panchayat election voter list has been extended. Earlier, the deadline was extended from January 15 to February 6, then to March 28 and later to April 15. According to the new schedule, voting-related activities following the computerisation of voter lists, numbering of polling centres/stations, mapping of polling locations to respective wards, voter numbering, SVN allocation, downloading of voter lists and obtaining photocopies will be done by April 21 and final list will be published a day after. htc...
