Fight against foreign dependence, racism dominates Dussehra theme
Lucknow, Oct. 2 -- The Aishbagh Ramleela Ground in Lucknow is preparing for one of the grandest Dussehra celebrations of the year, with over 50,000 people expected to attend. This year, the symbolic burning of Ravan's effigy carries a powerful message, themed on completely eradicating foreign dependence (Videshi Nirbharta), Naxalism (Naxalwad), and racism (Naslwad).
Organisers say the Aishbagh Ravan Dahan not only upholds age-old tradition but also reflects pressing contemporary concerns, with the aim of inspiring people to stand united against deep-rooted societal challenges.
The 65-ft effigy of Ravan will be set ablaze only after sunset, some part of Ravan Vadh would be enacted before the Ravan Dahan, a time considered ideal for symbolising the victory of good over evil. Several key political figures will be present on the occasion. President of Shri Ramleela Samiti Aishbagh Hairsh Chandra Agarwal said, "Deputy CMs Brajesh Pathak, Keshav Prasad Maurya, and former deputy CM Dinesh Sharma are expected to attend as chief guests."
Working closely with the district administration and police to ensure smooth crowd management, Agarwal confirmed that extra measures are being put in place to manage the limited capacity of the ground and avoid any overcrowding or stampede-like situations.
In addition to the religious and cultural festivities, the Dussehra Mela promises to be a major attraction for locals and tourists alike.
Meanwhile, organisers of Shri Ramleela Samiti, Mahanagar, clarified that they have not yet finalised the name of the chief guest. Other prominent areas across Lucknow-Mausamganj, Gomti Nagar, Jankipuram, Alambagh, Sadar, and Rajajipuram-are also gearing up for Dussehra celebrations.
