New Delhi, Oct. 12 -- Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav's official Facebook account, which was suspended on Friday evening, was restored on Saturday morning, with Union IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw denying government's role in the episode, adding that the action was taken by the social media giant due to "an abusive post" on the former Uttar Pradesh CM's account. Yadav has 8.5 million followers on Facebook owned by Mark Zuckerberg-led Meta. "We restored the page once the issue was brought to our notice," a Meta spokesperson said. SP leaders alleged their party chief's account was suspended as part of an "undeclared emergency" imposed by the BJP. Rejecting the claims, however, IT minister Vaishnaw told reporters: "The government has nothing to do with this. His account had an abusive post due to which Facebook took down his profile..."htc...
