Bikaner, Aug. 15 -- A woman has filed a complaint against 11 people including her husband and other family members accusing them of selling her 15-year-old daughter for Rs.5 lakh and forcibly marrying her to a 50-year-old man in Khajuwala police station area, police said on Thursday. Station house officer Surendra Kumar Prajapat, who is investigating the case said that the mother filed the complaint on August 12. The case was registered on the same say under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. According to the complaint, there was a proposal to marry her 15-year-old daughter to a 50-year-old man, she had opposed the proposal outright to marry her to an older man. However, her husband and son pressured her, claiming that the agreement had been made. The mother, in her complaint, alleged that greed for money motivated them, adding that her daughter was held captive for three days at an unknown location. "On August 9, the minor was brought back home and a group arrived to conduct the marriage. When the girl and her mother protested, the mother was locked in a room while the marriage was carried out," SHO quoted the mother as saying. The 50-year-old attempted to sexually assault the girl but she managed to escape to her mother. The minor's statements are yet to be recorded as the investigation is ongoing....
