Father alleges harassment in BTech student's suicide case
LUCKNOW, May 1 -- The father of a 23-year-old BTech final-year student, who died by suicide in the Bijnor area under Sarojini Nagar police limits on April 26, has alleged that his daughter was facing harassment. Following his claim, police on Thursday lodged an FIR against a software engineer.
The FIR was lodged under the charge of BNS 108 (abetment of suicide).
The student, a native of Raunahi in Ayodhya, had been living on rent in Seema City for the past seven years. Her father alleged that a software engineer identified as Udit Mishra, who works in a private company, had been in contact with her and allegedly subjected her to mental and physical harassment.
The father alleged that he received information about his daughter's death on April 26. Upon reaching her room, he found her dead. Initially, the accused and local police informed the family that the student had died by hanging herself.
During police questioning, the software engineer stated that he had tried calling the student multiple times. When she did not respond, he went to her residence, found the door locked from inside, and upon pushing it open, discovered her hanging from a ceiling hook with a dupatta.
