PRAYAGRAJ, March 8 -- A man from Tewan village in the Manjhanpur Kotwali area of Kaushambi has accused his daughter's in-laws of murdering her and disposing of her body after she went missing under suspicious circumstances. Alleging a lack of cooperation from the police, he approached the Superintendent of Police on Saturday seeking justice. Sharda Prasad Mishra said his daughter Ankita, married in 2016, went missing from her in-laws' house on January 21, 2026. He alleged that, instead of informing the family, his son-in-law lodged a missing person report the next day, claiming she had left with her mobile phone. Mishra alleged police failed to track his missing daughter's phone or question suspects, claiming she was murdered and her body hidden. SHO Mahewaghat police station Dhirendra Singh said the matter is under investigation and expressed confidence that the woman will be recovered soon.
