LUCKNOW, Oct. 15 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to frame a Digital Agriculture Policy to strengthen the sector through real-time data, innovation and self-reliance. The proposed Digital Agriculture Ecosystem will integrate information on crops, weather, seeds, fertilisers, irrigation, insurance and markets, enabling farmers to make informed decisions. Reviewing the Rs.4,000-crore World Bank-supported UP-Agrees project being implemented across 28 districts in eastern UP and Bundelkhand, the CM laid stress on value addition, processing and employment generation "from farm to factory." He instructed that sectoral experts be appointed and efforts made to boost private investment and credit access for small and marginal farmers. The CM said ideal agricultural models would be developed in every district under the Diversified Agriculture Support Project, with clusters for red chillies in Varanasi, peanuts in Bundelkhand and bananas between Barabanki and Azamgarh.
