PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 27 -- A 55-year-old farmer was electrocuted after coming in contact with a high-tension wire in Hulla Ka Pura village under Ghoorpur police station limits on Thursday morning. His son and another villager also sustained severe burns while trying to save him, officials said. According to reports, the victim, Jitendra Singh alias Mukhiya, had fenced his field with iron wires to protect crops from cattle. During the night, a high-tension line passing close to his field snapped and fell on the fence. Unaware of the danger, Jitendra entered the field in the morning and was electrocuted while tilling near the fence. Hearing his cries, his son Sandeep Singh, 30, rushed to help but also suffered a shock and was injured. Another villager, Shivsagar Singh, tried to remove the live wire with a bamboo stick and also suffered burns.
