MEERUT, Sept. 22 -- A 45-year-old farmer died on the way to the hospital after being brutally beaten with sticks over an old rivalry, in Bijnor's Shivala Kalan area on Saturday evening. The locals placed the body on the road blocking traffic and accusing police of negligence. The deceased was identified as Chaman Singh, a resident of village Seh. About eight days earlier, he had an altercation with Hardeep, after which Hardeep's side reportedly held a grudge against him. On Saturday night, while Chaman was sitting near his house playing cards, Hardeep allegedly arrived with several associates and attacked him with sticks. Chaman's brother, Pawan Singh, said the attackers launched a sudden and brutal assault, beating him severely despite locals' attempts to intervene. Following the attack, Chaman vomited blood. His family rushed him to the Noorpur health center, where doctors referred him to the district medical hospital, but his condition deteriorated, and he died on the way. After Chaman's death, his family took the body to Shivala Kalan police station. CO Chandpur, Desh Deepak Singh, along with a police team, arrived in the village to investigate and inspect the crime scene.
