LUCKNOW, Nov. 24 -- Lucknow police on Sunday prevented a family comprising 11 members, including five minors, from setting themselves ablaze at the Tango-1 barrier, officials said. According to Gautampalli police, the family arrived near the barrier at around 10:40 am and began pouring some inflammable substance on themselves. "Personnel deployed there rescued them and brought them to the police station for questioning," an official statement said. It turned out to be a fallout of an ongoing land dispute between two groups of the same village under Asiwan police station in Unnao district, police said. On March 25 last, the other group had attempted self-immolation at the Tango-3 barrier over the same issue. "On November 21, both sides had a scuffle in which a person suffered a head injury, and an FIR (first information report) was registered at Asiwan police station against several members of the family that attempted self-immolation today," the statement said.
