Family held for murdering youth, dumping body on railway track
MEERUT, May 29 -- A young man found dead on railway tracks in Budaun's Binawar area was murdered by his own family, police revealed. The body, discovered near Ghatpuri village on May 18, was initially suspected to be a railway accident.
However, a postmortem confirmed that Veerbhan died from a head injury caused by a heavy object.
Police grew suspicious as the family did not report the incident. Investigation revealed that Veerbhan, an alcoholic, often demanded money and caused trouble at home.
On May 17, during a heated argument over money, he was allegedly pushed off the roof by his brother Bhagwandas and sister-in-law Somvati, while his mother Maya Devi was present. He died on the spot. Instead of reporting the incident, the trio tried to cover it up by placing his body on railway tracks at night, hoping it would be taken as an accident or suicide. SHO Arvind Singh said the breakthrough came after questioning locals. During interrogation, the three family members confessed. Based on their confession, police registered a murder case and arrested all three, who have now been sent to jail.
