LUCKNOW, Dec. 8 -- In a major development in the Dubagga blind man's murder case, Lucknow Police on Sunday arrested the victim's elder brother and grandson after CCTV footage and electronic surveillance confirmed their involvement in the killing. The arrests come a day after a visually impaired man, Birendra alias Donga, 50, was shot dead in Tand Kheda village on Friday evening. According to the official police press note, the arrested men Narendra alias Bhullu (65) and his grandson Chirag (19) were detained from near Manak Nagar railway station early on Saturday. "A licensed 12-bore double-barrel gun, believed to be the weapon used in the murder, along with cartridge and a live round, were recovered from their possession. The main shooter, Narendra's son Jitendra alias Annu, is still absconding," added the press note. Police said CCTV cameras installed along the escape route captured the accused fleeing the village on a motorcycle minutes after the attack. Police said that the footage helped teams establish the sequence of events and identify the suspects. According to police, the Investigations have revealed that the murder stemmed from a deep-rooted family conflict over land and their mother Ashoka's pension. Police said Ashoka had gifted 32 viswa of her land to her nephews, while the remaining 10 viswa was sold four months ago for Rs.40 lakh. Narendra allegedly received no share and believed he had been sidelined in both the land transaction and the pension benefits Officers said tensions worsened when Ashoka moved in with her visually impaired son Birendra six months ago, a decision that further angered Narendra and became the flashpoint leading to the murder. According to investigators, Chirag conducted a recce of the area on Friday and informed Jitendra and Narendra of Birendra's location near the dry water tanks. Acting on this information, the father-son duo arrived on a motorcycle around 4:30 pm, where the fatal shot was fired. Birendra's postmortem was completed late Friday, and his funeral was held under police supervision. Police have now added Sections 61(2) of the BNS and 30 Arms Act to the FIR and said efforts are underway to trace Jitendra....
