LUCKNOW, Dec. 17 -- Itaunja police, in a joint operation with the cyber cell of Lucknow Police Commissionerate, have arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly cheating job aspirants by issuing fake online appointment letters in the name of a prominent vehicle manufacturer. Police said in a statement that the case came to light after Nihal Chandra Gupta, a resident of Amaniganj in Itaunja, lodged a complaint on June 2, alleging that he was contacted from an unknown mobile number and lured with a job offer with the car manufacturer. "The accused, Ayush Sharma, allegedly claimed that the complainant had been selected for a job and demanded money under the pretext of verification through multiple QR codes, cheating him of Rs.3,33,903," said inspector Vinod Kumar Yadav of Itaunja police station.
