Face life's challenges with courage to achieve goals, says governor
PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 16 -- UP governor Anandiben Patel chaired the Eighth Convocation of Prof Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University (PRSU) here in Naini on Monday morning, and exhorted students not to be afraid of challenges in life but face them with courage to achieve goals.
Expressing happiness over the significant number of women among the medal winners, she said that the society was moving strongly towards women power. Referring to the ethanol plant established by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Assam, she inspired students to explore new dimensions and areas of research.
Emphasising the necessity of 75% attendance of students, the governor said that it is very important to maintain the quality and discipline of education. She said that difficulties were a part of life, instead of being afraid of them, solutions should be found.During the convocation, 92,109 students were awarded degrees, including 52,037 undergraduate students; 21,312 postgraduate students and 18,760 professional course students. In addition, 187 top-performing students were honoured with medals, including 55 gold medals, 65 silver medals and 67 bronze medals.
Among the medal recipients was Swati Singh, the top scorer in MA Ancient History, who will receive the prestigious Chancellor's Medal. A native of Pratapgarh, Swati scored an impressive 92.5% and is currently preparing for the civil services examination while planning to pursue a PhD.
On the occasion, the governor feted 187 students with gold, silver and bronze medals. Out of these, gold medals were awarded to 56 postgraduate and undergraduate students. The governor distributed Anganwadi kits and health kits for 300 Anganwadi centres of Kaushambi district.
While addressing the convocation assembly, the governor congratulated all the students and their parents and said that this success is the result of their hard work, dedication and commitment.
The governor motivated students and said that India is a country of youth, if you want, you can change the whole world. Motivating the students, she said that do not limit your ability and service to the family only, but use it in the development of the whole country.
The governor honoured the students of the University who registered special achievements in the field of sports by giving them prize money and prizes. She also honoured winners of sports competitions organised in the villages, Anganwadi centres and schools adopted by the University. The children who received medals in various school level competitions were also encouraged by the governor.
During the ceremony, the first prize winner of the speech competition presented her speech before the Governor. The souvenir of the university was also released by her besides teachers who performed excellently were awarded the "Excellent Teacher Award".
Cabinet Minister for higher education, Yogendra Upadhyay, while addressing students, said that all should seek guidance from the glorious land of Prayagraj and the respected Professor Rajendra Singh "Rajju Bhaiya". He said success was not possible without a guru, hence students should use their abilities in country, society and nation building.
Minister of state (higher education) Rajni Tiwari, in her address expressed confidence that students will make an important contribution to the social, economic and technological development of India. She also said by 2047, India will become a developed nation and its reins will be in the hands of the youth.
Chief guest Sanjay Srinet, chairman of UP Public Service Commission, through examples, enthused the students to work hard.
He inspired them towards character building, morality, nationalism and social service and said that for this, one should learn from the lives of spiritual, social, freedom fighters and other great men....
