LUCKNOW, Oct. 3 -- There is a good possibility of an increase in rainfall activities in the first week of October in the state. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast that the skies over Lucknow will remain partly cloudy, and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning were very likely at isolated places here. Rain is also likely in the state capital. Elsewhere, rain/thundershower was very likely at isolated places over West UP and at a few places over East UP. "The axis of the monsoon withdrawal is passing through Jhansi, Shahjahanpur, and, in view of this, there is expected rainfall activity in the state during the first week of October. The conditions are not yet favourable for monsoon withdrawal from the remaining parts of the state," the IMD stated.
