Expect good rain in Oct first week: IMD
LUCKNOW, Oct. 2 -- There is a good possibility of an increase in rainfall activities in the first week of October in the state. Also, one or two spells of rain or thundershowers are likely in the state capital on Thursday, the weather department said.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast that the skies over Lucknow will remain partly cloudy, and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning were very likely at isolated places here.
Elsewhere, rain/thundershower was very likely at isolated places over West UP and at a few places over East UP.
"The axis of the monsoon withdrawal is passing through Jhansi, Shahjahanpur, and, in view of this, there is expected rainfall activity in the state during the first week of October. The conditions are not yet favourable for monsoon withdrawal from the remaining parts of the state," the IMD stated.
Under the influence of a low-pressure area over West Central Bay of Bengal moving in a north-northwest direction, heavy rainfall was likely over Eastern Uttar Pradesh from October 3 to 6.
Under the influence of an upcoming Western Disturbance, heavy rainfall with hailstorms is likely in Western UP on October 6 and isolated heavy rainfall on October 6 and October 7.
In view of this, some districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh have been placed on 'orange' alert for October 4-5. There is a possibility of decrease in the intensity and regional distribution of rainfall in the state after the first week of October.
Meanwhile, Kalpi in Jalaun district recorded the highest 126.4 mm rainfall in the 24 hours ending Wednesday 8.30 am. Jasrana in Firozabad received 91.4 mm rainfall, Jalaun 88.2 mm,and Kannauj 87 mm during the same period....
