LUCKNOW, Oct. 8 -- Art connoisseurs participated in a programme and exhibition titled 'Malika-e-Ghazal: The Life and Legacy of Begum Akhtar' at Lucknow Bioscope on Tuesday to commemorate the 111th birth anniversary of the ghazal queen. The exhibition celebrated Begum Akhtar's cultural and musical legacy, offering rare artifacts, storytelling sessions, and audio-visual displays for music lovers, researchers, and people of Lucknow. Items on display included a coin and stamps issued in her name, newspaper clippings from her concerts, vinyl discs, vintage movie posters, and photographs. A film titled 'Zikr Us Parivash Ka' by Nirmal Chander was also screened during the event. As part of the 'Qisse Baatein Aur Yaadein' segment, participants visited Begum Akhtar's mazaar in Pasandbagh, Thakurganj, guided by Neera Kathuria, who highlighted the efforts taken to preserve the space. She also discussed Saleem Kidwai's work in documenting every aspect of the singer's life....
