Patna, May 19 -- Ahead of the Bihar assembly polls, former Union minister and former JD(U) chief RCP Singh announced the merger of his party, Aap Sabki Awaaz (AASA), with Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj on Sunday. Both the leaders were once close confidants of JD(U) chief and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar. While Kishor left his position as JD(U) vice president in 2020 due to differences over CAA/NRC stance, Singh quit JD(U) in 2022 after the party sought explanation from him over charges of corruption. He formed AASA in last October. "RCP Singh and Prashant Kishor came together long before Nitish Kumar joined hands with Lalu Prasad in 2015. RCP Singh has huge experience of running a political organisation, which no other leader can match... Jan Suraj is here to provide that (a viable alternative)," Kishor said at a press conference, referring to Singh as an "elder brother". Singh said he and Kishor worked for NDA and INDIA bloc, but now "time has come to build our own house together in the larger interest of state." JD(U) state chief Umesh Kushwaha said, "Singh knocking doors of Jan Suraaj was an indicator of his lost political relevance, both are destined to fail." "Germs and virus are joining hands to decimate the opponent... we have anti-virus," Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said....
