Bhopal, Aug. 20 -- A class 12 student allegedly set a guest teacher of his former school on fire in Madhya Pradesh's Narsinghpur district after she filed a harassment complaint against him, police said on Tuesday, adding the accused has been arrested. The 25-year-old teacher sustained injuries and was referred to Jabalpur Medical College in a critical condition, they added. Suryansh Kochar, 18, was arrested in connection with the incident on Tuesday, and booked for attempt to murder under Section 109 of the BNS, said Sandeep Bhuria, ASP, Narsinghpur. On Monday, Kochar visited the teacher's house and called her outside by saying that he wanted to apologise. When she came out, he poured petrol on her and set her on fire. The teacher jumped into an open drain to save herself while Kochar fled, police said. He was arrested on Tuesday from Kalyanpur, they added. The school principal said, "Suryansh used to study in our school but his conduct was not good. We warned him several times but he didn't listen so we expelled him from the school."
