AGRA, May 25 -- A former employee at a hospital in Agra was found to be involved in installing tiles bearing the image of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar on the hospital's floor. Investigations revealed that the accused had a financial dispute with the hospital where he was previously employed, and he allegedly carried out the act with the intention of sparking controversy. It may be recalled that on Friday, members of Bhim Army staged a protest at a private nursing home in Agra's Hariparvat area after it was discovered that tiles bearing the image of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar had been installed on the hospital's rooftop floor. Hariparvat police reached the hospital but had to face tough moments as they tried to pacify the agitated protestors. Later, Vinayak Bhosle, assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Hariparvat assured timely action. On Saturday, Agra police revealed the act, intended to provoke public sentiment, was orchestrated by a former hospital employee who had a financial dispute with the hospital owner and deliberately conspired to create the controversy. "Investigation revealed that the tiles were placed by Rakesh, a resident of Etmadpur in Agra who had previously worked as a security guard at the hospital had a financial dispute with its management," stated ACP (crime) Himanshu Gaurav. "He installed the tiles on April 17 and then informed Anil Kardam of the Bhim Army, aiming to trigger protests by inflaming public sentiment among followers of Dr Ambedkar," he added. "Action is being taken against both Rakesh and Anil Kardam for colluding to create a controversy, and a case has been registered in this regard," informed the additional deputy commissioner of police ADCP (Crime) at Agra.
