GORAKHPUR, Jan. 20 -- The district court in Deoria on Monday granted bail to former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, observing that his continued judicial custody was not required at this stage of the case. Thakur, who is currently lodged in Deoria district jail in connection with an alleged land fraud case, is likely to be released soon after completing bail formalities, said officials. An official associated with the prosecution said, "The court granted bail to the accused after hearing arguments from both sides.
