EPFO launches free doorstep life certificate service
Kanpur, April 30 -- The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has tied up with India Post Payments Bank to offer free doorstep digital life certificate services to pensioners under the Employees' Pension Scheme, 1995.
Regional PF commissioner-I Shahid Iqbal said on Wednesday that the new service will help pensioners submit their annual life certificate without visiting banks or EPFO offices. He said many pensioners, especially elderly people, persons with disabilities and dependants of deceased employees, face problems in using smartphones or online systems.
Under the arrangement, trained postmen and gramin dak sevaks will visit pensioners at their homes. They will complete Aadhaar-based face authentication or biometric verification. The service will be free of cost and all expenses will be borne by the EPFO. Pensioners can request the facility through the toll-free number of India Post Payments Bank. After verification, the life certificate will be updated directly in EPFO records. Officials said the service will be available across the country through India Post's wide network, including rural and remote areas....
