Entry to Prayagraj Jn from Smith Road closed
PRAYAGRAJ, June 3 -- The entry to Prayagraj Junction from Smith Road side, located in Civil Lines, has been completely closed for the next four months.
The closure came into effect on Monday, June 2. The railway administration has taken this decision due to massive development work currently underway on the Civil Lines side of the junction.
During this period, the route between foot over bridge numbers one to two on Smith Road will remain completely closed. Passengers approaching the railway station from Smith Road side will now need to use alternative routes via gate number three and four, or through Coral Club lane.
The Railways has been carrying out a development project on Civil Lines side of Prayagraj Junction since August 2023. Under this project, a multi-storey building is being constructed, which will feature state-of-the-art passenger facilities, including waiting rooms, toilets, escalators, lifts, ticket counters and commercial complexes.
In addition to this, a new foot over bridge, expanding circulating area, road widening, green zones and other structural changes are also being developed to improve passenger facilities.
The Smith Road route has been temporarily closed to ensure the timely completion of the construction work and to maintain passenger safety.
During the period of restriction, passengers will be able to reach platform number four, five, seven, eight, nine and 10 from gate number three.
While gate number four will be used by those passengers who want to go to other platforms.
Entry into the station will also be possible from the route near the Coral Club....
