Ensure timely delivery of benefits under welfare schemes: Minister
LUCKNOW, Dec. 17 -- Minister of state (independent charge) for backward classes welfare and empowerment of persons with disabilities Narendra Kashyap on Tuesday directed officials to ensure that the benefits of all government schemes reach eligible beneficiaries on time, warning against negligence at any level.
Chairing a departmental review meeting, the minister asked officials to expedite disbursal under the Marriage Grant Scheme for the financial year 2025-26. He was informed that as of December 15, a sum of Rs.139.28 crore had been transferred through the PFMS to 69,644 beneficiaries.
Officials said that Rs.147.75 crore had been credited to the accounts of 6,90,349 students under the Pre-Matric Scholarship (Classes 9-10), while Rs.175.54 crore had been transferred to 5,85,954 students under the Post-Matric Scholarship/Fee Reimbursement (Classes 11-12).
During a review of computer training schemes, the minister was apprised that 299 of 435 applicant institutions had been selected and were currently training 28,691 trainees under O-Level and CCC courses, with Rs.19.18 crore spent so far.
