Lucknow, Nov. 2 -- Days before the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls starts in 12 states, including Uttar Pradesh, on November 4, the revision of the voter list was among the key issues discussed at an organisational meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state capital on Saturday. State BJP president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary chaired the meeting and state general secretary (organisation) Dharmendra Singh was present on the occasion along with party office bearers from across the state. State general secretary Govind Narain Shukla coordinated the meeting which also focused on the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan' and MLC polls. The party also announced the launch of a statewide campaign on November 7 to mark 150 years of the national song 'Vande Mataram'. He directed booth committees to remain active and reach out to all new voters who have completed 18 years of age. State general secretary (organisation) Dharmapal Singh termed the voter revision exercise as not just an electoral process but an effort to strengthen the foundation of democracy. He instructed workers to assist in the addition, correction, and deletion of names and to coordinate with people who have shifted from other areas to ensure their names are updated in the new voter list. "No eligible citizen should be deprived of their right to vote because of procedural lapses," he emphasised. Dharmapal Singh also said that the campaign offered an opportunity for public contact and dialogue. He asked workers to use the door-to-door exercise to inform people about the achievements of the Modi and Yogi governments, their development initiatives, and welfare schemes....
